I Love Star Wars

From the moment I first saw that opening crawl recede into space, I have been fascinated by everything Star Wars. It is more than just a film franchise, it is an epic of storytelling, exploration, and magic culture which led me on to my journey into cinema-loving. My friends know that it’s a part of me.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

World-Building. One of the key reasons I love Star Wars, which is why George Lucas created a galaxy so vast and full that it, itself, seems real. Each planet, from the dunes of Tatooine to the forests of Endor has its personal subculture, legacy and outlook. This level of detail is what keeps me engaged and believing that I am exploring a galaxy far, far away.

Unforgettable Characters

Fake or not, another reason I gave my heart to Star Wars is the characters. You feel like you know these characters, not just as a section of the story…. but all by themselves. Luke Skywalker and his determined will, Leia and her gutsy humor… the inner demon that Darth Vader fights daily… these are friends. Even the droids, R2-D2 and C-3PO, have personalities that brings laughs and feels to the series.

Epic Storytelling

At its heart, Star Wars is about a tale as old as time: good cop vs bad cop, hope facing off against despair. Luke Skywalker got to go through the same hero’s journey as every myth, but updated with lightsabers and starships and alien planets. Over the course of each trilogy, those parts pile on one after another as a master narrative forms; telling us how the decisions of individuals can decide an entire galaxy’s future.

Iconic Music and Visuals

My love of Star Wars is now synonymous with John Williams music. Every moment is carried proudly on the triumphant blast of the main theme, the haunting “Imperial March,” or the gentle notes of “Leia’s Theme.”, and even the visuals, from that first glimpse of the Star Destroyer taking over the screen to have fight scenes on Hoth, can only be considered amazing. Because of the music.

A Shared Experience

But more importantly, Star Wars is something I can share with other people. From debating the greatest lightsaber duel to quoting Yoda, dressing up for a premiere with your Community helps. It is that collective love that links fans raising their kids in a galaxy far, far away and the prequels and original trilogy groups. It proves Star Wars is timeless.

Conclusion

I love Star Wars, because its a wonderful mix of adventure, heart and imagination. It gave me the power to dream big, it taught me that hope can do anything, and showed me that friendship and courage are worth everything. It is my favorite story in a galaxy full of stories. Plus the props are cool!

When I was kid I made a lightsaber from toilet paper rolls and aluminum foil. Now days you can buy a lightsaber and that’s rad! My inner child is so happy.
